2008 Twin Cities Show Chorus - Regional Competition, Fargo, ND

COMPETITIONS ARE A LARGE AND IMPORTANT PART IN THE LIFE OF A T.C.S.C. MEMBER. Our goal coming back from the 2007 International Competition in Calgary, Alberta, Canada was to raise our scores even more for the coming Regional Competition. We are proud to say that goal was met and we scored 610 points! Most satisfying to all were the sound scores which were higher, this time, than the showmanship scores.

Many thanks goes to Mary Lois Dick [we consider her one of our own], and several other fabulous international vocal coaches including Kim Hulbert, Jean Barford, and Tori Postma.

Judy, our director, says "thank you to each individual member" for choosing personal responsibility (CPR) and adding to her own individual "bricks of knowledge and skill" to our barbershop "wall" of sound and performance. A chorus is only as good as each singer decides it can be.

We are committed to building on what we've learned, both individually, and as a chorus, and are proud to be representing Region Six at International Competition in Nashville, Tennessee, October 20-24, 2009.

With an "A" Score of 610, Twin CitiesShow Chorus is the 2008 Can-Am Region 6 Chorus Champions! This year we surpassed our goal of 600 and earned extra points in the SOUND category which qualifies us to go on to the International Competitions in Nashville, Tennessee in October of 2009. Along with the Overall Regional Championship, we have won the Region 6 Chorus Midsize Division AA (45-65 members) 6 times running! With some personal vocal coaching from Mary Dick, members each took "CPR" (choosing personal responsibility) to a new level and the same package to Regional for the win. We will be replacing the ballad with "Kiss Me One More Time" for International competition in Nashville.

Songs: "Last Night was the End of My World" and "Yes Sir! That's My Baby"
Director: Judy Olson, Master Director. Contestant #14. Placed 1st Overall and 1st in Midsize Division AA out of 14 contestants. 59 onstage. Score Totals: Sound: 155, Music: 153, Expression: 152, Showmanship: 150, Total: 610

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

#1 A strong energetic start to this song. A few synch problems and tuning errors at end of intro. A good tempo was set, a few spots went out of synchronization during first chorus. Good key change. Good energy. Good drive to the end of the song.

#2 A good solid start to this song, but a number of synchronization errors at start of song. "Good bye" loud dynamic before chorus had tuning issues. Keep the louds supported. Some phrases felt too rushed which compromized the implied meter of the song. Strong finish. Now add more passion and drama to this fine performance.

SUITABILITY TO PERFORMER: Both "fine choices for you

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

You greeted your audience with open smiles and a "We're glad to be her" attitude! An energetic opening to fun uptune. The choreographed moves are energized and delivered with style. As song progresses, the larger moves get more sluggish and on the heels rather than balls of feet - keep everything lifted! Ballad has lovely expressive faces - make sure that all stay involved in the story of the song rather than goint to concentration mode. A fine performance!

Director: What a showman!
