We rehearse for three hours every Tuesday evening. We bring in top vocal and barbershop coaches from far and wide, drill choreography, and work on matching vowels and getting chords stacked, balanced and in sync. In short, we practice! practice! practice! to get songs ready for regional or international competitions while maintaining a full performance repertoire and a busy engagement calendar!

We strive to improve our scores each time, competing regionally in the spring with choruses from the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario and from North and South Dakota, Minnesota, and parts of Iowa and Montana.

In each of the 33 regions worldwide, the chorus which scores the highest in the four categories of sound, music, expression, and showmanship advances to International competition in the fall of the following year.

Sweet Adelines International competitions have been held in many U.S. cities (eg. New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Boston, Nashville, Houston, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis), including twice in Honolulu, Hawaii, and once in London, England! With choruses traveling from Australia, Sweden, Canada, and all over the U.S. to compete, members not only have a chance to do some exciting travel, but to compete against the best in the world AND make friends with like-minded women from all over the globe..

Competing helps us hone our skills and constantly strive for improvement. It also gives us a chance to network with other choruses and hear how they've grown as well. Sweet Adelines competitions are an atmosphere of friendly competition and a chance to learn from other choruses.
