WELCOME! from Judy Olson, Master Director WHAT TO EXPECT
Judy Olson, DirectorWelcome to real harmony and lasting friendships with the Twin Cities Show Chorus! The best way to find out if you'd like to become a member is to come to a rehearsal and sing with us! Give yourself one night a week just for you!

If you like to sing harmony, give 4-part a cappella a try. Membership is open to women of all ages. You can visit as often as you like with NO MONEY DUE until you're ready to actually join.

We ask that you attend at least 3 rehearsals BEFORE you fill out a formal application so you know exactly what you're getting into. Being a performing chorus, it's a hobby that does require some commitment. Along with regular weekly rehearsals, you will need to commit to at least a majority of the performances we schedule. Because the balance of voices can sometimes make a difference in the quality of sound the chorus produces, participation is an important factor in becoming a member of the Twin Cities Show Chorus.

On the other hand, that's the exciting part of this great hobby ... PERFORMING!

When it comes to the administrivia part of the chorus, there is no obligation to do any more than YOU feel willing to do. This IS a hobby afterall. Below you'll find some basic information of what you can expect when you visit us.

Real Women! We are a group of woman who get together each Tuesday night to sing and learn about the barbershop art form, see our friends and make new ones. During the day we are mothers, teachers, secretaries, managers, business owners, etc., but on Tuesday nights we are all singers having a great time preparing for shows, competitions and performances doing something we all love ... SINGING!
Fabulous Repertoire! Our repertoire contains a wide variety of musical styles including Broadway show tunes, swing, patriotic, gospel, love songs, some old standard tunes and some of the most popular contemporary music heard today. Our Music Staff is continually searching out new and fun arrangements for the chorus to learn and perform.
International Competitors! The Twin Cities Show Chorus is part of SWEET ADELINES INTERNATIONAL, the world's largest singing and music education organization for women. Sweet Adelines, a nonprofit organization, has more than 24.000 members in the United States and ten other countries. Our region, Can-Am Region #6, includes Minnesota, North Dakota, most of South Dakota, northern Iowa, eastern Montana, and the Ontario and Manitoba provinces in Canada.

We work throughout the year toward improving our vocal and performing skills. Every spring, we participate either as contestants or in the showcase and as hostesses in a Regional Competition to determine who will represent our region at the International Competition eighteen (18) months later. We are always excited to learn how much our scores have improved.
Shows & Performances We also produce a new "show package" annually which includes quartets and sometimes guests from other singing organizations - depending on the venues set up in advance by our Performance and On-the-Road Show Coordinators. The overall theme and script changes each year to fit the new and exciting arrangements our director and music team find for us to learn. Some years we also produce a Holiday Show to which we might invite other choruses or singers to join us.
We'd love to have you join us! I know all of this might seem a bit overwhelming. But, this is an educational organization and we have many talented members who will be able to assist you. Our Rookie Coordinators are ready and willing to answer any questions you might have for them.

We believe that we have an exciting musical future and would love to have you be a part of it. Check the links below to get started as a TCSC Rookie or just come for a visit and see if this great hobby is for YOU.

IF WE CAN DREAM IT, WE CAN DO IT .... TOGETHER. In Harmony,

Judy Olson, Director Twin Cities Chorus
