Got Questions? Here are a number of frequently-asked questions that we get:
How much personal time will it take? In addition to weekly rehearsals throughout the year, we participate in a Sweet Adelines regional competition in the spring of each year. We tend to perform in and around our area about 4-6 times per year in the summer parks, for local festivals, business events, charitable events, as well as presenting a Holiday show.
What is the cost? Twin Cities Show Chorus attempts to pay for all or most of our chorus costumes, music and other material expenses through projects and performances. We do however require you to pay a rental fee for some pieces of the costumes and purchase outright some of the perishables - eg. shoes & makeup. Payments can be worked out with the costume committee if necessary.

What is the audition procedure? Our audition procedure is simple and painless. After 3 (or more) visits, when you're ready to apply for membership, we ask that you record yourself singing the song of your choice from the risers. We'll even provide the recorder should you need one! Turn the recording over to your section leader or the guest coordinator for coaching. More than one audition recording is OK. Once the audition is passed, the music team will send their recommendations to the Board of Directors to pass your name forward to the membership for a vote.
Do I have to be a great singer or musician? No! We want people who love to sing! The barbershop style of harmony singing favors a straighter tone quality - not operatic vibrato - in order to produce ringing chords. Every voice adds their own unique flavor to an ensemble group like ours. Many of our members cannot even read music! However, a good ear for tuning is a definite plus.
How do I learn the songs? We provide learning tracks/recordings in each voice part for all our music. Recording yourself or your section leader at rehearsals is one great learning tool. We each take personal responsibility to learn and memorize our part, the interpretation, choreography and much more for each song in the chorus repertoire. In addition to section leaders, there are many willing, talented members available to help you learn your part.
